Privacy Policy

ReadMyDeal exists so you can understand contracts. We take privacy seriously because the documents you upload are sensitive — usually drafts you haven't signed yet. Here's the short version:

• We don't sell your data. Ever.
• The free analyzer never stores your contracts — they're processed in memory and discarded after your analysis is returned.
• Paid accounts can choose to save deals. When you save a deal, we store that contract and its analyses for you — encrypted, visible only to you, and deletable by you at any time.
• Your contracts are never used to train any AI model.
• Beyond saved deals, we keep only your email address (and, for paid accounts, your account and billing records), and you can ask us to delete them anytime.

We collect the minimum information needed to operate the service:

• Email address. Collected when you use the analyzer or sign up for updates, and stored with our email service provider (Kit).
• Account information. If you create a paid account, we store your email, name (if provided), and authentication records with our managed auth provider (Neon Auth), plus your plan and entitlements.
• Billing information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — we keep only Stripe's customer/subscription identifiers and purchase records.
• Contracts you submit to the free analyzer. Processed transiently to generate your analysis; not stored — see §6.
• Deals you save (paid accounts). When you save a deal to your account, we store the contract text, its versions, the analyses, comparisons, and any chat messages about it — so features like re-runs, redlines, and round-trip checks work. Saving is always an explicit action, and you can delete a saved deal (or your whole account) at any time.
• Usage data. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited), and aggregate analytics about how the product is used.
• Communications. If you email us, we retain that correspondence.

• To provide the service — analyze your contracts and return results to you.
• To send you product updates (you can unsubscribe anytime).
• To improve the service in aggregate (we never train AI models on your contracts — see §5).
• To prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
• To comply with legal obligations.

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+). Free-analyzer contract text is processed in memory and never written to a database or file storage. Saved deals (paid accounts) are stored in our database (Neon Postgres) encrypted at rest, scoped to your account, and accessible only to you. Your email address is held by our email service provider (Kit) under its security commitments. We use industry-standard cloud infrastructure (e.g., Vercel) for hosting.

Despite reasonable safeguards, no system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach affecting your data, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

ReadMyDeal uses third-party AI models (currently Anthropic's Claude API) to analyze your contracts:

• Your contract is sent to the AI provider over an encrypted connection for analysis, and the response is returned to you.
• We do not retain your contract after the analysis is returned; the AI provider handles submitted content under its commercial data-use commitments.
• Your contract is not used to train any AI model — neither ours nor the provider's.

We may use anonymized, aggregated patterns from contract analyses (e.g., "X% of producer split sheets contain perpetual rights grants") to improve our analysis framework and to produce de-identified, aggregated industry statistics and insights (for example, benchmark reports on common deal terms), but never with content that identifies a specific contract, party, or user, and never in a form that could reasonably be re-identified.

Free analyzer: contracts you submit and the analyses we generate are not stored — they exist only in memory for the duration of your request and are discarded once your results are returned. Your analysis is shown once in your browser; if you want to keep it, save or copy it before leaving the page.

Saved deals (paid accounts): contracts, versions, analyses, comparisons, and chat messages you save are retained until you delete the deal or your account. Deleting a deal permanently removes its stored contract text and everything derived from it. Billing records are retained as required for tax and accounting purposes. Your email address is retained with our email provider until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it at privacy@readmydeal.com.

We share your information only with:

• Service providers who process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality (hosting, payment processing, email delivery, AI inference, analytics).
• Legal authorities when required by valid legal process. We will challenge overbroad requests where reasonable.
• A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.

We do not sell your personal information.

Regardless of where you live, you can:

• Ask what data we hold about you (your email address, and for paid accounts your account details, billing records, and saved deals).
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Have your data deleted.
• Unsubscribe from emails at any time.

If you are in the EU/UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA), you have additional rights including the right to know what data we hold, the right to portability, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights. Contact us at privacy@readmydeal.com to exercise any of these rights.

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, prevent fraud, and measure aggregate usage. We use privacy-respecting analytics (e.g., Plausible) that do not set tracking cookies or collect personal information. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

ReadMyDeal is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.

ReadMyDeal is operated from the United States. By using the service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country. Where applicable, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in-product before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top tells you when the policy was most recently revised.
